Apricots
This morning as the kids were eating breakfast, Conor piped up with the following gem...
Spot-on description if you as me! Such an insightful (and highly funny) boy his is! :)
"I know what an apricot is. It is a little fruit that looks like a bottom."

Minty!
Yesterday as we drove home from school I asked the kids about the volleyball game between the teacher and 8th graders. This was the report from the kids in the back seat:
Conor: It was the ultimint epic volleyball game!
Me: Umm? Conor? Can you please say that word again?
Conor: Epic!
Me: No, the word that starts with the letter U ... ulti....
Conor: Ultimint
Me: Buddy, it is pronounced ultimate
Annika: Ultimate? That just sounds weird. I always thought it was ultimint.
Conor: Yeah. Ultimint sounds better.
Me: (can't talk.due to shaking with laughter)

Conor's Song Lyrics
A few days ago, Conor sidled up to me and said, "Mama? I don't understand a song."
I replied, "Which song?"
"The one about the sheep."
"The one about the sheep?"
"Yeah... blah blah black sheep. Why do we say blah blah?"
"That's baa baa, not blah blah. Baa, as in what a sheep says."
"OH!! That makes more sense. Baa baa, not blah blah. Got it!"

Conor's Latest Funny
A few days ago, the kids and I were driving home from Ballard and were stuck at a red light heading. To pass the time, Annika and Conor started reading the signs on the nearby buildings.
I heard them struggle with a word; they kept trying to sound it out, but without any luck. Because the light was so long, I was able to start looking around and realized they were trying to read the word "psychic" on a building. I helped them figure out the word and asked if they knew what a psychic is.
Conor replied, "Yes! It is a super hero's little buddy."
At that moment, I was so grateful that I could grab the steering wheel to within an inch of its life to help control the giggles that wanted to erupt from the core of my very being. After taking a few slow breaths, I was able to say, "Close, but not quite. That's a side kick, honey, not psychic."
Psychic ... side kick ... tomato ... potato

Conor's Music Class Pictionary Recap
Last night as we drove home from his music class, I asked Conor what they did during the lessons. He said that he did a lot of singing (which is impressive considering he has a cold!) and they played a few games, including music pictionary and rock band karaoke.
I asked what things they drew during music pictionary and he said, "rock bands and instruments."
I then asked which bands they drew, to which he replied, "Oh, ones like Squished Pumpkins."
(Insert mental image of me gripping the steering wheel to within an inch of its life here.)
My apologies to all members of the band Smashing Pumpkins for him not knowing your actual name. He's 6, so what do you expect? :)

Conor's Cheese-ism
Today, the kids and I stopped at the store for a few items we need for dinner (make-your-own pizza). As we walked through the store, the kids took turns having items placed in their own kid-size carts. At one point, I mentioned that we needed to remember the mozarella cheese. To that, Conor replied, "I want the monster-ella cheese in my cart!" I now have a new name for that lovely, gooey, stringy cheese! LOVE, love love!!

Conor - newspaper reporter and soccer referee
As we were driving in the car to Annika's 8-year-old check-up yesterday, Annika and Conor kept themselves busy by creating newspapers and "writing" articles to fill their pages.
As Annika worked, she had a running commentary of the "news" and inserted "Oh, this is gonna be big" and "Can you believe such a thing?" as her pen flew across the paper she was using.
Conor, not to be outdone by his big sister, also started working on a newspaper of his own. He announced that he was reporting on a soccer game that ended in a tie. He gave himself a promotion and decided he was also the referee for the game and his job was to "make sure the game ended in a tie and was preposterous."
When I heard "preposterous" flow out of his mouth, I was absolutely stunned!! I asked him if he knew what the word meant and he said, "Yes, do you?" I told him I did and asked him what he thought it meant. To which he replied, "It means to end in a tie." Umm... not quite, but REALLY cute!!
